Skullcandy was launched in 2003 and quickly became one of the world's most distinct audio brands by bringing unique technology, color, character and performance to an otherwise monochromatic space; helping to revolutionize the audio arena by introducing headphones, earbuds and other audio and wireless lifestyle products that possess unmistakable style and exceptional performance.
Our products are sold and distributed through a variety of channels in the U.S. and over 80 countries worldwide. We pioneered the distribution of headphones in specialty retailers focused on action sports and the youth lifestyle and hundreds of independent snow, skate and surf retailers. Through this channel we reach consumer influencers, individuals who help establish and maintain the credibility and authenticity of our brand. Building on this foundation, we have successfully expanded our distribution to select consumer electronics, mass, sporting goods and mobile phone retailers.
The company was founded in 2003 by Rick Alden, the creator of several successful action sports companies and a lifelong industry enthusiast. Rick developed his inspiration for Skullcandy while listening to a portable music player on a chairlift in Park City, Utah. Hoby Darling , our president and chief executive officer, and our management team share a passion for the Skullcandy lifestyle of action sports and music. Our principal offices are located in Park City, Utah which is the epicenter of some of the best snow peaks in the world.
